Denzel Dumfries sent Inter into the Italian Super Cup final as his second-half double secured a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in Riyadh.

The Scudetto holders will aim to win this competition for the fourth successive time in the showpiece when they meet either Juventus or AC Milan, who face in the other semi-final on Friday.

Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi kept his side in the game in the first half, but Inter found a well-deserved opener just four minutes after the break through Dumfries.

The Netherlands international controlled well after Yann Bisseck's header from a right-sided corner, before producing an excellent finish on the turn to send Simone Inzaghi's side ahead.

Wing-back Dumfries scored his second 12 minutes later when firing in off the underside of the crossbar from the edge of the box, before Inter held on for victory against the Serie A leaders.

Data Debrief: Dumfries delight as Atalanta struggles continue

Dumfries became just the fifth Dutch player to score a goal in the Italian Super Cup, joining a host of greats in Frank Rijkaard, Marco Van Basten (twice), Ruud Gullit and Wesley Sneijder.

His exploits helped Inter to their seventh straight win against Atalanta in all competitions, after failing to win seven of their previous nine (D6 L1).

In fact, Atalanta have won only one of their last 18 games against Inter across all competitions (D6 L10) as last season's Europa League winners were left to rue another failure against Inzaghi's men.
