Novak Djokovic made grand slam history at the Australian Open as he featured in his 430th singles match.
Djokovic set a new record for grand slam matches played in the Open Era when he took to the court at Rod Laver Arena to face Jaime Faria on Wednesday.
That took Djokovic clear of Roger Federer, who he matched earlier in the week when he played in the first round, for the most grand slam matches in the Open Era.
Serena Williams (423) ranks third on the all-time list, ahead of Rafael Nadal (358) and her sister, Venus (356).
Djokovic already holds the record for grand slam match wins, with a remarkable 378 under his belt, nine clear of next-best Federer (369). His 88.11% win ratio is the third best of any male player to have recorded at least 100 singles victories at the majors, after Bjorn Borg (89.24%) and Bill Tilden (89.76%).
He is hunting a record-breaking 25th grand slam title, and a record-extending 11th Australian Open crown.
The 37-year-old would also bring up his 100th ATP Tour-level trophy should he win the tile in Melbourne, becoming just the third player to achieve the feat, after Jimmy Connors (109) and Federer (103).
