LeBron James will be placed on a minutes restriction for the rest of the season, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.

James will be limited to 28 to 32 minutes per game and could sit out either end of a back-to-back. The front office consulted James’ agent, Rich Paul, before making the decision, the report says.

The 15-time All-Star signed a four-year, $153.3 million contract with the team in July, but the Lakers have not met expectations this season as they hold a 30-35 record. They entered play Tuesday 6 1/2 games behind the Clippers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

James is averaging 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and eight assists in 2018-19. He’s shooting 34.9 percent from 3-point range and a career worst 66.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers will face the Celtics on Saturday. They have 17 games remaining on their schedule.
