Nur Izzuddin hit back at allegations that he and partner Goh Sze Fei used tiredness as an excuse after crashing out early at the Singapore Open through a social media posting that suggested a media blackout.

“Earning a living by spreading news that are not true, by writing something that did not come from our mouths is more disgraceful than us losing in the early rounds. We have never given excuses when we lost because we know to accept defeat without excuses.

“I don’t know who spread this news, but I know it's not true and some parties have made their own suggestions. Don’t just create news without knowing the actual condition, because it can be detrimental,” he said on his social media platform.

The Muar-born’s posting got the support of many of his peers, including Lee Zii Jia, Soh Wooi Yik, Chan Peng Soon, Lai Pei Jing and Ng Tze Yong who all liked the post.

The shuttler’s #guaantimedia hashtag at the end of his posting also appeared to be trending on Twitter.

Izzuddin appeared to hit back at media reports suggesting the world number 12 pair ‘were tired’ after they lost in the second round in Singapore to Indian pair M. R. Arjun-Dhruv Kapila.

Prior to that, the pair also lost in the opening round of the Malaysia Masters against Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto.

When it was suggested to national doubles chief Rexy Mainaky that the pair ‘were tired’, he told reporters: “I can’t accept the fact that they were tired. The excuse is nonsense because they lost early in the Malaysia Masters, so how can they be tired?”

Mainaky was also critical of the pair and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik after they crashed out at the Malaysia Open semi-finals.

Then, the Indonesian supremo said both pairs needed to start getting the basics right like doing the homework of their opponents.

The Malaysian men’s doubles pairs in general had a forgettable outing in Singapore.

Five pairs, from both the national and independent setup, crashed out as early as the second round.
