Cavaliers forward LeBron James passed Lakers Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Wednesday for second place on the NBA's all-time postseason scoring list.

Abdul-Jabbar scored 5,762 points in 237 career playoff games. A 3-pointer with 8:41 remaining in the third quarter moved James past Abdul-Jabbar and only Jordan has more with 5,987 points in 179 games. Wednesday was the 205th playoff game for James, who entered the night 24 points behind Abdul-Jabbar. James had 36 points through three quarters as the Cavs held a 99-73 lead.

Jordan and Abdul-Jabbar each won six NBA championships during their careers. James, who led the Cavaliers to their first NBA championship and the third of his career last year, is trying to take a team to the NBA Finals for the seventh straight season.
