Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah attributed clear communication as key to their first round success at the on-going Denmark Open, as they bid to reach the quarter-finals when they face South Korean opponents on Thursday.

The Malaysian fifth seeds are in good form having finished second at the Arctic Open last week, and delivered a combative display to overcome India’s plucky pair Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand 19-21, 21-17, 21-15 in the opening round.

“We were clear in our communication and knew what we wanted to do in the match. That was crucial for us to achieve the win,” they said after the win.

Tan-Thinaah next face South Korea’s Lee Yu-lim-Shin Seung-chan whom they are expected to beat based on current form.

Another relief is also the fact Tan ruled out an injury to her right knee, clarifying that the taping only served as a precaution.

Tan-Thinaah are the only Malaysian women’s pair in this Super 750 event held in the city of Odense, Denmark.
