Goh Jin Wei has filed an appeal to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) after the national body decided not to enter her for any tournaments for the next two years.  

“I sent my appeal letter this morning. I’m ready to sit down and discuss this matter further with BAM and I hope to get this decision revoked,” she told The Star.

Goh’s appeal came on the back of Lee Zii Jia’s successful one to the national body, as the men’s singles ace confirmed he got the blessings of the BAM to turn professional on Tuesday.

The two-time world junior champion was given the two-year non-participation verdict after the BAM said she had expressed interest to return to them as a mixed doubles shuttler, after initially announcing her retirement in September due to health issues.

But the BAM claimed Goh “was indecisive” about returning and eventually signed with Kuala Lumpur Racquet Club (KLRC) as an independent player.

Goh and KLRC manager Sairol Amar Ayob had earlier met with Youth and Sports Minister Faizal Azumu on Monday to discuss the shuttler’s predicament.

Goh had also questioned the BAM’s decision to penalise her after she got their blessings to leave the national body in September.
