Mikaela Shiffrin made a winning start to 2018 as she claimed victory in the parallel slalom city event in Oslo on New Years' Day, her 37th FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup triumph.
Shiffrin ended 2017 on top of the overall and slalom standings after five wins in the first half of the season, and she quickly extended her advantages with a sixth success in an impressive display in Norway.

The American's day looked like being very different when she lost the opening run of her first-round race with Anna Swenn Larsson.
She regained her composure, though, before seeing off Lena Duerr and Frida Hansdotter to qualify for the Big Final against Wendy Holdener.
Shiffrin took the first run by 0.01 seconds and confirmed her triumph with victory in the second to take top spot on the podium, the 22-year-old joined in the top three by Holdener and teenager Melanie Meillard.
There was a big shock in the men's event as overall standings leader Marcel Hirscher was beaten by Dave Ryding in round two, the Austrian having seen off home favourite Kjetil Jansrud in his first race.
Henrik Kristoffersen – who had headed the slalom leaderboard – was also a surprise early exit against Linus Strasser, the German going on to claim third at Ryding's expense.
Victory went to Sweden's Andre Myhrer after he beat Michael Matt in both runs on the Holmenkollen ski jumping hill – his eighth World Cup victory.
Despite his early exit Hirscher moves above Kristoffersen, while extending his overall lead to 54 points.
