Tottenham legend Clive Allen believes it is only a matter of time before Harry Kane breaks more goal-scoring records.
Kane continued his rich vein of goal-scoring form with a brace against Everton on Sunday, which saw him surpass Teddy Sheringham's record of 97 league goals for Spurs and put him just two goals short of becoming the 27th player to reach the 100-goal Premier League goal mark.
The 24-year-old also outscored the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to be Europe's top scorer for club and country in 2017, leaving Allen, whose record of 49 goals in the 1986-87 season has remained Spurs' best individual tally for a single season, very impressed with the England international.
"I think he has a really single-minded attitude since he first got into the team," he told Astro SuperSport.
"There were question marks asked about him as a young striker after a good first season, but he bounced back and scored over 20 league goals again, and he did it again in the third season, which is not happening by fluke.
"He really has a fantastic attitude and mentality to score goals, and he wants to do it at this club because he feels this is the place where they can provide him with the chances and it suits his game.
"He has the desire, which will take him further and further, and he will keep breaking records and scoring goals."
Kane’s goal-scoring feats have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid being linked with a mega bid for him.
To ward off interest from other clubs, Allen said it is important for Tottenham to keep current stars such as Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, and invest in better players to keep Kane at the club.
"Kane has shown what he is capable of, so the club now have to continue to match his desire and get him the players that can give him goal-scoring opportunities," he added.
"We can see that he can [score goals] week in, week out, so the club need to have the players at his level to keep Kane where he is now."
