Malaysia's Asian Games campaign gets tougher

Luck was not on Malaysia U-23 men's football team's side for their 2018 Asian Games campaign after a re-draw was held at the AFC House in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday.

Already in the same group as defending champions South Korea as well as Kyrgyzstan and Bahrain, Ong Kim Swee's boys will have a fourth team to reckon with, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Indonesia next month.

The draw was held after the UAE and Palestine were excluded from an initial draw earlier this month.

However, instead of a full re-draw, the Indonesia Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC) opted for both teams to be drawn into existing groups, which also saw Palestine go to Group A featuring host nation Indonesia.
