Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin attributed the strong crowd support at the Unifi Arena as one of the main factors for their victory at the Malaysia Masters on Friday.
Goh-Izzuddin booked their second consecutive semi-finals in a week after they beat Japanese pair Kakeru Kumagai-Hiroki Nishi 21-17, 16-21, 21-16 in a thrilling 53-minute clash.
“The crowd played an important role to help us win. Their support definitely pressured our opponents. We handled the pressure cooker moments well today and that was a key factor.
“We are here to win this competition. Physically we are prepared for this, as we have also been training on our rest days,” said Goh-Izzuddin, who also reached the Thailand Open semis last week.
Malaysia are guaranteed a place in the men’s doubles final as Goh-Izzuddin will play Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the semis.
Chia-Soh, seeded top, beat Chinese pair Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi 21-15, 21-16 .
It was a fantastic day for Malaysian men’s doubles with Junaidi Arif-Yap Roy King also in action in the last four.
Junaidi-Yap beat American pair Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith 21-15, 21-19 to setup a clash against Danes Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard.
If Junaidi-Yap win on Saturday, the men’s doubles final will be an all-Malaysian affair.
