20,000 allocated online tickets for the first leg of the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup final were sold out before the supposed sale time on Friday.

Tickets had already been expected to be in high demand as Malaysia face Vietnam at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in the first leg next Tuesday.

To cope with the web traffic, online ticketing vendor Ticket Hotline ran an early test at 8:30am, 30 minutes before the sale time, but it resulted in lucky fans getting ahead of others in buying the tickets.

In response, Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam explained in a Facebook post that another 10,000 tickets would be made available online later today, taking from the 20,000 tickets allocated for Saturday's online sales.

Meanwhile, 40,000 physical tickets would be for sale starting from December 9.
