Annabell Gan remains focused on finishing strongly despite another victory.
The group stage campaign continued with another solid showing from BAM players, who maintained their consistency with a string of straight-set victories.
A total of eight singles representatives clocked wins without dropping a set.
In the boys’ singles, Derrick Leung defeated Kuala Lumpur’s Tang Wei Lee (21-12, 21-10), while Wong Yin Heng recorded a convincing victory over Melaka’s Ho Jia Yu (21-4, 21-12).
Marcus Hang overcame Penang’s Yeoh Han Son (21-16, 21-14), alongside Chong Lee Qian, who comfortably dispatched Negeri Sembilan’s Yang Zhen Yu (21-12, 21-12).
Reflecting on his performance, Lee Qian stressed the importance of staying mentally strong and avoiding overthinking during matches.
“I was not satisfied with my match yesterday since I had to play until the rubber set,” said Lee Qian.
Despite securing the win, he acknowledged the need to improve his mental resilience and remain composed under pressure.
In the girls’ singles, Mirza Batrisyia produced another convincing display to defeat Kelantan’s Zafirah Izza (21-15, 21-15).
“The wind inside the hall affected me at times, and I had to adjust the direction of my smashes and attacking shots,” said Mirza.
As an attacking player, Mirza relies on creating openings before launching decisive attacks to win rallies.
Chua Jing Xuan was equally impressive as she defeated Selangor’s Chu Jing Xuan (21-9, 21-13), recording her second victory over the same opponent.
Annabell Gan also defeated Penang’s Hawa Johari (21-17, 21-14), although she felt her performance fell below her own expectations.
“I think this was not how I usually play. I believe I can do much better than this,” said Annabell.
With her sights set on reaching the final, she remains focused on following her coaches’ advice.
“Whether I win or lose, my coaches just want me to give my best,” she added.
