Malaysia were big winners at the Commonwealth Esports Championships on Saturday as they won two gold medals in events involving them at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

Nor Haikal Noh, who represented Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), got the ball rolling by beating his Scottish opponent 2-0 in the eFootball (Open) Grand Finals.

Wales defeated Gibraltar to claim bronze.

Malaysia then clinched another gold medal, this time in the Dota 2 (Women) event.

The team of Stephanie "Auroraa" Lim, Nadrah "Nada" Saufi, Wong "HG" Wei Sian, Bette "iStarx" Chia and Tan "Shizuma" Lyn Xhin concluded their campaign with a perfect record after overcoming England 2-0.

Malaysia have a chance of making it three gold medals out of three when they take on England in the Dota 2 (Open) Grand Finals on Sunday.

They are being represented by William "MangO" Yeoh, Denise "Wonder'boy" DanialAbdullah, Chung "Ws`" Wei Shen, Ahmad "Ahyad" Ayhad Husam, Pang "ponyo" Sze Xuan, and Yong "LOyd" Bing Jie.

Despite not officialy being part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the esports tournament is running concurrently with the Birmingham showcase.
