Malaysia have a medal finish in the bag at the inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championship after their female Dota 2 team qualified for Saturday's Grand Finals in Birmingham.
The team, consisting of Grills Gaming players Stephanie "Auroraa" Lim Yuen Lii, Nadrah "Nada" Saufi, Wong "HG" Wei Sian, Bette "iStarx" Chia Hooi Ping and Tan "Shizuma" Lyn Xhin, defeated Singapore 2-0 in the semi-finals to set up a final showdown against England.
They are favourites to win the final after clinching a perfect record in the group stage including against the home team.

Organised by the Commonwealth Games Federation and Global Esports Federation to take place alongside the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the tournament also features eFootball and Rocket League.
Besides Grill Gaming, the Malaysia Electronics Sports Federation (MESF) also sent Team Atlantis to participate in the Dota 2 open category and NorHaikal Noh, who had represented Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), for eFootball — both also reached their respective Grand Finals.
