Former Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett had some choice words about Minnesota's drama-filled week.
The 15-time NBA All-Star who started and ended his career with the T-Wolves said "it’s a s— storm up there" in an interview with The Athletic.
“I’m a T-Wolf for life, man,” Garnett told The Athletic. “I’m ‘Sota for life. I’ve always wanted better for not only the city and the franchise, but Wigs (Andrew Wiggins), KAT (Karl-Anthony Towns), those are my guys. I root for those guys. Gorgui Dieng. Those are my guys. I’m just hoping they can get through this rough patch and everybody can get on the same patch and figure it out.”
Garnett's comments came after Jimmy Butler stirred the pot with an expletive-laden return to Minnesota's practice this week. The outburst brought back memories for the 22-season veteran, who last wore a T-Wolves jersey in 2016.
“You don’t think that I went crazy sometimes? Man, I was a damn Tasmanian devil,” Garnett said. “I would say s— at (Kevin) McHale. I would say s— at Flip (Saunders). But it was all to motivate all of us.
"We had a big game against Chicago and I’m just raising the level to what I’m expecting the next day to be like.”
Butler also has said he was trying to raise the level of a team he felt like wasn't playing hard enough.
After the practice that sent the NBA world into a tailspin, Butler said all of his emotion came out of him at once and also admitted the mid-week frenzy might not have been the best way to handle it.
But Garnett still isn't pleased, especially since the outburst was made public on social media and then later confirmed in that ESPN interview
"What’s really the s— storm is that can’t nobody keep s— in practice,” Garnett said. “What goes on in practice should always stay in practice. And what goes on between two conglomerates as businesses should always stay (private). Everything is so godd— public now.”
Garnett spent a total of 14 season with the T-Wolves after Minnesota selected him as the fifth overall pick in the 1995 draft.
