In their continuous effort to empower the local esports scene, eGG Network officially launched the Alliance of Campus Esports (ACE) to develop esports professionals among university students on Wednesday.

By partnering with industry experts, universities, sponsors and the National Sports Council of Malaysia, ACE would be organising tournaments, training workshops and other activities to help the students gain skills and knowledge to succeed in the esports industry.

"As one of the pioneer of esports platforms in Malaysia, eGG Network sees that many esports enthusiasts are university students.

"Their passion goes beyond gaming and they want to be in the esports industry. They are hungry for opportunities to learn from the experts and they want to make their mark in this fast growing and exciting industry. We hope that ACE will open doors for our budding esports talent.

"eGG Network appreciates the strong support for ACE from the National Sports Council of Malaysia, Management & Science University, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College and our sponsors – KFC, DU Recorder, Tamago, Thermaltake and Illegear," said Lee Choong Khay, Astro's Chief of Sports.

ACE's key initiatives included the ACE Championships, which would see them kick off Mobile Legends and Dota 2 tournaments, offering prize pools of RM18,000 and RM20,000 respectively, on October 6.

The ACE Championships would also function as university qualifiers for Malaysia’s national selection of esports athletes.

ACE would also be organising on-ground activities for university students, starting with the Management & Science University campus in Shah Alam from October 23 to 24, and the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College campus in Setapak from November 27 to 28.

In August, a talk on the local esports scene was held at the Gameka office in Kuala Lumpur.
