The Lakers likely will be without forward Brandon Ingram for the rest of the season.

The team announced Saturday that Ingram is expected to sit out to remainder of the season because of a deep venous thrombosis in his arm. The diagnosis will call for Ingram to be on blood-thinning medication for several months, and he will be unable to play for that duration, reports stated.

He already missed two games due to a sore right shoulder and underwent further testing Friday, which revealed the seriousness of his injury.

Ingram, 21, has battled other injuries this season, including a sprained ankle in early December.

He has averaged 18.3 points, 3.0 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 52 games this season.

Ingram, selected with the second overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by Los Angeles, was shooting 49.7 percent from the field, including 33.0 percent from 3-point range.
