New and existing Astro customers can now enjoy watching the likes of Premier League, La Liga and Formula 1 action on 4K UHD following its Ultra Box launch at the Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya, on Wednesday.
The new Ultra Box, which requires a compatible 4K TV to enjoy the full Ultra experience, uses a hybrid system of satellite and internet technologies to deliver the best 4K UHD quality and stream content anytime on demand.
It features a fresh new user interface, improved content recommendations based on viewing history, play from start functions and an ability to record multiple shows at the same time.
The same features are also available on Astro GO, which is free on desktop and mobile for all Astro customers.
"We are on a journey of continuous improvement to provide our customers with a better experience from customer service to content, to OTT for mobility and to the experience at home.
"Over half a million homes have 4K TVs, of which 70% are Astro customers. The launch of the Ultra Box is timely to meet the growing demand for 4K UHD viewing.
"Additionally, commercial establishments in the hospitality, retail and F&B sectors will welcome the opportunity to offer patrons live sports and other content in 4K UHD," said Henry Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Astro Group.
Existing customers with monthly subscriptions of RM100 and above can upgrade to the Ultra Box for free, while those with monthly subscriptions of RM100 and below can enjoy the new experience with a one-time fee of RM199.
They are also entitled to 200 free hours of HD storage on the Astro Cloud Recording service, which can be increased to 1500 hours at RM15 per month.
