Lee Zii Jia recently engaged in a meet-and-greet session with two young fans, and told them his biggest ambition in the sport is to become the best in the business and also a world champion.

The “interview” session between Lee and the two young fans – Aden and Joey – took place during a “Badminton Buddy Chat” segment courtesy of a partnership between the Badminton World Federation and the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup title sponsors TotalEnergies.

Lee told Aden and Joey he started playing around the same age as them (7-9 years old) and showed them a highlight video of himself in action in 2021.

The two young fans then asked him how they can become as good as him.
“Be persistent, you might meet difficulties while trying but never give up till the end,” he said, also explaining how he is able to transition from backhand to forehand quickly.

“We need to have a good level of flexibility in our fingers, so we can switch between backhands and forehands whenever we want. We should train daily for this. Honing your technique is key.”

When asked by Aden and Joey about his grand plans, the world number replied: “To become the best in the world and become the world champion.”

The Paris Olympics bronze medalist is scheduled to get back to competitive action at the upcoming Kumamoto Masters (Nov 12-17).

Since the Olympics, Lee suffered two first round exits in Japan and China, but improved at the Arctic Open where he reached the quarter-finals.
