Newly crowned mixed doubles World Champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei recently visited their childhood schools, and paid tribute to their alma mater for setting the foundation of their careers.

Chen recently visited his primary school Shi Peihua Elementary School in Negeri Sembilan where he received a warm reception from the students and teachers who greeted him with congratulatory messages and bouquets of flowers.

“Warm, pure, second home. Every time I mention my alma mater, my mind will unconsciously come to a beautiful word.  Here, every child will have countless dreams.

“Who would have thought the little boy who loves badminton could one day turn this love into a career and become a badminton player who plays for his country,” said Chen, who spent time signing autographs and taking pictures with everyone.

Toh also recently visited her school SJK (C) Wen Hua in Malacca where she spent time with the students and also gave a speech.

“This World Champion is not mine alone, it is a reflection of all the people and places that have been part of my journey from the  beginning. SJK(C) Wen Hua will always be a big part of my story, and I will carry this school in my heart wherever I go,” she posted on her social media.

Chen-Toh are currently in Shenzhen for the China Masters that begins this week.

The third seeds will face an American pair in the first round.
