“His immediate task is to tailor a programme that will help Zii Jia achieve consistent performances, move up world rankings and qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics,” read the statement from Lee's team.
Lee previously alluded to hiring a coach with experience of grooming a champion — Wong notably coached South Korea's women’s singles ace An Se-young.
Wong solidified his CV after grooming An into a serial winner during his almost four-year stint with the South Korea national team.
The 55-year-old’s last assignment came with the Hong Kong national team which he took up last June.
Lee was also invited to train with Wong and the rest of the Hong Kong shuttlers including Angus Ng Ka Long and Lee Cheuk Yiu just before the Asian Championships in April.
