Swiss Open: Tze Yong clears first round with ease, faces Jonatan Christie next

Ng Tze Yong cleared his first round match-up at the Swiss Open with a satisfying 21-16, 21-15 victory over Germany's Fabian Roth to set-up a tantalising second-round contest against fourth seed Jonatan Christie.

Ng, who needed 47 minutes for the win, said he needed some time to cope with the pace of the shuttle before finding his groove.

“Tomorrow will be a tough match against Christie, but I am ready to give it my best shot,” he said.

S. Kisona also cleared her first round tie with a 21-13, 21-11 victory over local shuttler Nadia Fankhauser.

In the men’s doubles, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin were commanding in their 21-9, 21-13 triumph over Emil Lauritzen-Mads Vestergaard and next face another Danish pair in Jeppe Bay-Lasse Molhede.

In the women’s doubles, Anna Ching-Teoh Mei Xing recorded a 19-21, 21-11, 21-11 upset over their fourth seeds opponents and next play Debora Jille-Cheryl Seinen.

Low Yeen Yuan-Valeree Siow, meanwhile, got a walkover over top seeds Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan and are slated to play a Malaysian pair, as Go Pei Kee-Yap Ling square off against Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien to face them.
