Yap Roy King-Junaidi Arif secured their first World Tour title of 2025 after winning the Macau Open in style by beating their top seeded opponents on Sunday.

The national men's doubles pair overcame Indonesian duo Sabar Karyaman-Moh Reza Pahlev 22-20, 21-18 on a court which saw leakage from the stadium roof from the first match in the final.

The officials could not rectify the problem from the start, and as a result the match was constantly disrupted with court officials rushing to mop the court after each rally.

But the world number 24 Malaysians refused to let that bother them, as they snatched the first game 22-20, before recovering from a slow start where they trailed 0-5 to record the straight game victory in this Super 300 event.

In the men's singles final, Justin Hoh went down 15-21, 5-21 against Indonesia’s rising star Alwi Farhan.

The 21-year-old Hoh was clearly affected by the conditions in the second game where he constantly had to call for the officials to wipe the court.

But Hoh was also up against an opponent who stood out for his composure and consistency.

This was Hoh’s first World Tour final, and he will look back fondly at his journey this week at the Macao East Asian Games Dome arena.
