Rosman Razak has returned to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as head coach of the women’s doubles department.

Rosman, 48, will start work on November 5 at the national association’s training headquarters as he aims to get a jump start on revitalizing the department ahead of the 2024 season.

Rosman, who replaced Hoon Thien How, will get to work alongside Ching Kai Feng and Amelia Anscelly as they aim to beef up the quality in the women’s team.

Rosman had been in charge of the professional doubles pairs such as Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing prior to this appointment.

The experienced handler finds himself taking over an established pair in Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah who have been making waves since the Paris Olympics and are now pushing to become the top five pairs in the world.

But after the world number seven duo, there is a huge disparity between the chasing pack.

Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing are the next, active highest ranking national pair at 85.

Go-Teoh won the Malaysia Super 100 women’s doubles title on Sunday, and they had a heartfelt plea to the incoming coach that they remain as a pair and not be split up.

That will be one of Rosman’s first key decision if to continue and grow the Go-Teoh combination.

Rosman is aware of the challenge at hand, but is excited to get going.

“The women’s doubles department has immense potential, and I am looking forward to building on the progress made over the years,” he said in a statement.

Rosman had left BAM in 2020 and went on to take a coaching role with the Philippines national team.
