Malaysian women's doubles star Pearly Tan said KT Tape helped her throughout her rehabilitation period from a knee injury until her successful title run at the French Open with M. Thinaah.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallists subdued some of the world's best pairings, including a 21-19, 18-21, 21-15 victory over two-time world champions Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara of Japan in the final, to become the first Malaysian women's doubles winners in French Open history since 1908.
Their success arguably came out of the blue as it had been only seven weeks ago when Tan sustained a worrying hamstring injury at Japan Open.
Tan, a product ambassador of the Sunlight Sports Group, endorsed the effectiveness of the revolutionary sports and fitness elastic adhesive tape in the management and protection of sports injuries.
"After the injury, I have been using KT Tape almost every day for training and during matches. It protects me from pain and also helps with my movement in the ring," said Tan.
"KT Tape makes me feel secure and gives me the confidence to fight all the way and perform at my best without worrying.
"Throughout my rehabilitation period, I felt a bit sad because I was only able to see my friends training hard from outside the court. But that difficult moment is also what gave me the impetus to work harder to speed up my recovery so that I could return to the court as soon as possible.
"With encouragement and solid support from family members, teammates, coaches and support service staffs, I was able to [get through the process]. I feel more grateful and appreciate every moment I am on the court now."
Tan was joined by fellow national player Nur Izzuddin Rumsani as the latest KT Tape ambassador, making them part of the Sunlight Sports family including Tan Boon Heong, Ong Yew Sin, Teo Ee Yi and Goh Jin Wei.
"High-performance athletes are always exposed to the risk of injury as they undergo high intensity interval training almost every day," said Sunlight Sports Branding and Business Development Manager Teah Yann Ling.
"Any injury will affect the training and performance of an athlete. If they recover even once, they will still face various complications and long-term effects resulting from old injuries.
"Through this collaboration [with Tan and Izzuddin], we hope that our two ambassadors can inspire and increase public awareness on the importance of prevention of sports injuries."
KT Tape was the latest brand to be added to the Sunlight Sport distribution product line after Li Ning.
