Malaysia vs Indonesia to kick-start Tokyo Olympics on July 24

The Malaysian contingent will open their Tokyo Olympics campaign on July 24, with women’s doubles pair Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean officially kick-starting the first badminton match of the Games.
Chow-Lee open their Group A campaign against Indonesians Greysia Polli-Apriyani Rahayu at 8am local time.
Later in the day, men’s doubles duo Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik start Session 2 in their Group D opener against South Koreans Choi Sol-gyu-Seo Seung-jae.

Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying are also in action the same day, up against Hong Kong pair Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet in Group D of the mixed doubles.
The mixed doubles pair are also the first Malaysians in action the next day, playing Germans Mark Lamsfuss-Isabel Herttrich hoping to seal their place in the knock-out stage by then.
Men’s singles star Lee Zii Jia opens his Group M campaign against Ukraine’s Artem Pochtarov on the same day, followed by Chow-Lee against Japanese top seeds Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota.
The group stage events continue throughout July 26 from 9am-5pm local time until July 28.
July 29 witnesses the mixed doubles moving into the quarter-finals stage, while the singles’ round of 16 matches take place the following day.
The individual category has a one-day break before resuming with the men’s singles quarter-finals on August 1, followed by the mixed doubles gold medal match and women’s singles semi-finals.
August 2 is when the action really heats up, with the men’s singles semi-finals and final taking place on the same day seven hours apart.
The men’s semis is scheduled for 12pm local time, along with the women’s singles final and men’s doubles gold medal match.
The men’s singles final is a standalone event at 7pm.
All matches will take place at the multi-sport Musashino Forest Sport Plaza in Tokyo.
