Malaysia Open: Yew Sin-Ee Yi stun Danes to enter last eight with Aaron-Wooi Yik
Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi gave Malaysian fans the biggest cheer of the day at the Axiata Arena on Thursday after they produced a stunning victory to reach the quarter-finals, along with Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.
The men's doubles pair dumped out fourth seeded Danish pair Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 21-10, 11-21, 24-22 in a thrilling contest.
It proved a nerve wrecking finale with the Malaysians needing four match points before converting the huge win which saw them slump to the court in celebrations.

“We changed our strategy in the third game and it worked. We owe this win to the fans who gave us motivation throughout the match and it helped us a lot,” said the pair.
The world number 12 will have to be at their best when they face Japanese pair Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Chia-Soh joins Ong-Teo in the last eight after the national top men’s doubles pair disposed of team-mates Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin 21-15, 21-16.
The world number four were not pushed hard by Goh-Izzuddin, but it will be a different story when they come up against reigning world champions Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae.
Both pairs will head into Friday’s action having cancelled each other out in two meetings last year.
Chia-Soh won at the China Open before the South Koreans avenged that loss at the World Championships.
“We have faced them before last year and both matches were tough. They also won the World Tour Finals recently so they are coming in with good form. We will need to prepare well,” they said.
Chia-Soh and Ong-Teo are the only Malaysian representatives left in this competition as the rest crashed out.
Goh Jin Wei gave it her best against Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung but ended up bowing out 15-21, 22-24 in the women’s singles.
In the mixed doubles, Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See were also no match for Chinese pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin and lost 14-21, 14-21.
