Pemain badminton remaja negara, Ong Ken Yon, menebus maruahnya untuk mengungguli Kejohanan Kebangsaan B-18 selepas menundukkan Justin Hoh Shou Wei dalam aksi final, hari ini.
Tewas dua kali berturut-turut kepada Justin sebelum ini dilihat jelas tidak merencatkan permainan Ken Yon untuk menang straight set.
Dia juga mengawal aksi set pertama untuk menang 21-13 sebelum berdepan tentangan sengit justin dalam set kedua tetapi tetap berupaya menoktahkan kemenangan 22-20.
"Terkejut saya boleh tewaskan dia sebab sebelum ini tidak pernah. Ini kali pertama dan saya gembira. Harap boleh beraksi di pentas Olimpik," kata Ken Yon.
Sementara itu, pemain Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Valeree Siow, muncul juara berganda menerusi acara beregu campuran dan beregu wanita.
Gandingannya bersama Beh Chun Meng muncul juara beregu campuran sebelum dia dan Low Yeen Yuan mengungguli saingan beregu wanita.
"Keyakinan saya 50-50 kerana kami menjalani latihan dengan lawan, jadi sudah tahu kelemahan dan kelebihan masing-masing. Mental dan keyakinan perlu dikawal," kata Valeree.
"Set pertama lebih bertenaga tetapi berkurangan dalam set kedua. Saya hanya beritahu Valeree agar lakukan yang terbaik," tambah Yeen Yuan.
