They fired away at the Indonesians for a 14-5 lead in the first game which paved the way for the lead, and maintained the same intensity in the ensuing game for the comfortable win.
The world number four pair, who pencilled this Super 750 event as the venue to end their wait for a BWF World Tour title after previously won an Olympic medal and the world title in Tokyo, next face fifth seeds Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi for a place in the semi-finals.
Chia-Soh were the only pair through as the rest of the Malaysians all succumbed in the last-16.
Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin lost in straight games 14-21, 17-21 against China’s eighth seeds Liu Yu Chen-Ou Xuan Yi, while Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah fell 15-21, 13-21 against China’s top seeds Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan.
It was the same story for Ng Tze Yong and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei who lost in straight games, while Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See pushed their opponents to three games before bowing out.
