Lee Zii Jia crashed out for the second consecutive tournament against Rasmus Gemke as he lost 21-13, 23-25, 16-21 in the first round of the Indonesia Open on Tuesday.
Lee had retired after 13 minutes against Gemke at the Indonesia Masters through a hip injury last week but had made steady recovery to compete here.

The Malaysian did not look at his best throughout the 67-minute contest against Denmark’s third ranked shuttler, even though he did showcase glimpses of his attacking prowess in this second event to be held in Bali.

The Kedah-born is next scheduled to compete at the BWF World Tour Finals, where he is ranked first, from December 1-5.
In the mixed doubles, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing beat Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai 22-20, 21-117 in an all Malaysian contest to setup a second-round clash against Indonesia’s Adnan Maulana-Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso.
Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei’s reward for a hard earned three-game victory in the first round is a potential meeting against top seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
National women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah also booked their second round berth after overcoming Spanish pair Clara Azurmendi-Beatriz Corrales 22-20, 21-19 in 43 minutes.

In the men’s doubles, Indonesia Masters semi-finalists Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were also victorious.
Chia-Soh beat Germans Mark Lamsfuss-Marvin Seidel 25-23, 21-12 and next play compatriots Ong-Teo who beat Tan Kian Meng-Tan Wee Kiong 21-11, 21-11.
Goh V Shem-Low Juan Shen were still struggling as a new pair as they suffered a fifth consecutive first round exit against Tokyo Olympics champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin 14-21, 16-21.
Goh, who split up with Wee Kiong in August after seven years of partnership, was crushed after another early exit.
“5 first rounds in a row, very disappointing result and my first experience. I’m really sorry about the performance,” he said on his social media.
Fifth seeds Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, who were looking to bounce back after several early-round exits, only needed 33 minutes to beat Indonesian pair Zacharia Josiahno-Hediana Julimarbela 21-12, 21-17.
They face Jones Ralfy Jansen-Linda Efler of Germany next.
