Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah had a far easier time, beating Lee Chia-hsin-Teng Chun-hsun 21-14, 16-21, 21-6, and next face Japan's Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi.

Besides Lee, mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei crashed out early as they lost to fourth seeds Wang Yi Lyu-Huang Dong Ping in straight games.
