The hallmark of a true legend is his legacy, and Lee Chong Wei can testify to that as the badminton icon was immortalised at the Madame Tussauds Singapore (MTS) alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.

Madame Tussauds is a major tourism attraction in many cities across the globe, drawing throngs of tourists to its lifelike wax figures made up of renowned leaders, athletes and celebrities.

At the MTS, Lee took his place in the Hall Of Fame alongside other global and national icons such as Muhammad Ali, Sachin Tendulkar, Yao Ming and Fandi Ahmad.

Lee’s wax figure was sculpted in his trademark ready to receive a serve stance, right knee slightly bent with the right arm raised out to receive and his left side on point to attack.

“It feels surreal to see a perfect likeness of myself at MTS. A big thank you to the team at Madame Tussauds for creating a realistic wax figure of me and I can’t wait for the world to see it. I am also honoured to be the first Malaysian athlete to grace Madame Tussauds halls,” he said.

Lee, who topped the world rankings for 348 weeks and won 69 career titles, was handpicked as the latest MTS attraction.

Besides him and the other sporting stars, the MTS also featured past and present prominent people including Lee Kuan Yew, Queen Elizabeth II, Xi Jinping, Barack Obama, Joko Widodo, Narendra Modi and Michelle Yeoh.

Fans can view his wax figure at the MTS until the first quarter of 2023 before it moves permanently to Hong Kong.
