The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are expected to resolve the contract status of Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah before the hectic badminton calendar takes off from July onwards.

BAM president Tengku Zafrul said the national body will finalize the national women's pair future before the Japan Open (July 15-20).

"I had a positive discussion with Pearly and Thinaah. We are close to a resolution that will benefit both BAM and the players before the Japan Open," he said.

For the record, Tan-Thinaah's contracts have expired since last year.

The pair are understood to be seeking a more lucrative deal compared to their previous deal, with other potential sponsors also interested to sign them up should they decide to leave.

Despite their contracts expiration, BAM have continued to pay the players' salaries for the last six months.
Tan-Thinaah have also done well for themselves by winning the Thailand Open and reaching the Indonesia Open final earlier this month.

They are now ranked third in the world, the highest a Malaysian women's doubles pair have been ranked in 16-years.

It is crucial that Tan-Thinaah's contracts are sorted out ahead of the busy fixture list.

After the Japan Open, the Malaysians will head to the China Open (July 22-27).

After that Super 1000 event, the World Championships will take place from Aug 25-Sept 1 where the pair will be aiming to return home with a medal.
