BAM recruit Tan Bin Shen to assist men's doubles coach Flandy Limpele

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) replaced some void in their coaching set-up by recruiting former national shuttler Tan Bin Shen for the men’s doubles department.
The national body also re-assigned Hoon Thien How to the women’s doubles department.
The contracts of Rosman Razak, Chin Eei Hui and Wong Pei Tty were not renewed for next year, so Tan’s appointment could spell more recruitments as the national shuttlers prepare for the season restart in January.

Tan will assist Indonesia’s Flandy Limpele in the men’s doubles, while Hoon will line up alongside former doubles partner Chan Chong Ming in the women’s doubles department.
National coaching director Wong Choong Hann hailed both appointments.
“Flandy has his expertise but we also believe that communication channel is equally important and Tan has a strong depth in communicating and I believe they will complement each other’s strengths well.
“Hoon has the quality in terms of sparring and familiarity with the department as he started his coaching career there. I don’t think it will be too much of an issue for him to transition because he knows most of the girls from his previous stint,” he said.
The 36-year-old Tan comes with a respectable playing career, ranked as high as eighth on the world rankings with one career title at the 2009 Australian Open with Gan Teck Chai.
Hoon is already in the national set-up and was Flandy’s assistant in the men’s doubles.
He reached a career high ranking of seven with Tan Boon Heong and is remembered for his sterling performance at the 2014 Thomas Cup to take Malaysia to the final.
