The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will be opening their doors to independent shuttlers and their coaches for joint training sessions with the national players beginning next week.

Lee Zii Jia are among those who have been invited along with Liew Daren, Cheam June Wei, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, Tan Kian Meng-Tan Wee Kiong, Goh V Shem-Low Juan Shen, Goh Jin Wei, Soniia Cheah, K.Letshanaa, Lai Pei Jing and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai.

“We have to consult all the players before we release any details officially and we will start as soon as possible, even as early as next week.

“We will know in a few days who are available. Their coaches are also allowed to join the sessions,” BAM high performance director Dr Tim Jones told The Star.

The national body already got in touch with the respective shuttlers and their coaches on the training arrangements at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM), currently waiting for their responses.

However, even if they do accept the invite, the likes of Lee, Goh, Cheah and Ong-Teo may not come in next week due to the ongoing Australian Open.

When previously asked about the possibility of training at ABM, Lee said he would be open to it but need to listen to the BAM’s offer first.
