The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have opened their doors to the top 50 singles shuttlers and top 30 doubles' shuttlers to take part in weekly matchplay sessions at the Badminton Academy Malaysia (ABM).

"As sparring sessions are critical and necessary components in players' training, BAM feels these joint sessions will provide mutual benefits to the proactive engines of the national team - the senior squad and professional shuttlers.

"BAM looks forward to the independent players taking up the offer to train at the national badminton centre," said the national body in a statement.

The sports administrators proposed that these matchplay sessions to take place on Wednesday mornings for singles and doubles, and Friday for another doubles session.

Their respective coaches would also be able to accompany the shuttlers on court.

The BAM had last week opened its doors for training and facilities usage to the independent shuttlers.

But with many of them competing at the Australian Open, the interest level of the independent shuttlers in training at the ABM would only be known from this week onwards.

Lee Zii Jia, Liew Daren, Goh Jin Wei Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai are among the shuttlers who are in the rankings required by the BAM for these matchplay sessions.
