Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik described their recent outing in Paris as a special Olympics after the duo managed to conquer all their emotions to wrestle a second Olympic bronze from the jaws of defeat.
Chia-Soh were treated to a hero's reception after landing at the KLIA International Airport on Wednesday.
The national men’s doubles pair looked tired from the long travel, but they were in good spirits to describe their experience in Paris.

“This is a special Olympics for us as we managed to bounce back from difficult situations to secure our second bronze medal. At the Tokyo Olympics, we didn’t have fans. This time, we felt all the emotions of the atmosphere in the arena when we competed.
“We are proud to have experienced these feelings and to deal with them successfully. Eventhough we could not deliver gold, we still delivered a medal.
“We have so many people to thank for this achievement. Our family, friends, BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia), RTG (Road To Gold), and the fans who supported us back home and those who travelled here.
“All these people were there for us throughout,” they said.
The now world number three pair will have a short break before they hit the road again for competitions on the World Tour circuit.
Chia-Soh are scheduled to compete at the Japan Open (Aug 20-25) and Korea Open (Aug 27-Sept 1) next.
But first, both shuttlers are looking forward to much needed family time.
Soh, especially, since he stayed at the Academy Badminton Malaysia hostel before the Olympics.
“We only have a few days of rest before we start preparing for tournaments in Japan and Korea. We want to spend that time with our families. It’s been a long time since we saw them,” said Soh.
