With close ties to the sport, Williamson joins Paul George, Jayson Tatum and Karl-Anthony Towns to become the fourth current NBA player under contract with Gatorade.

"Gatorade has been in my life and in the locker room throughout my entire life. I’ve seen how important fueling and hydration are to my performance," Williamson told Forbes this week. "I like the vision they have for the small things I can do to increase my performance. The smallest things can add up and become something great."

Williamson joined Jordan Brand on the richest rookie shoe deal in NBA history in July, and also has endorsement deals with Panini and the NBA 2K video game series.

Williamson, who turned 19 this summer, was selected first overall by New Orleans in June's draft. He averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game in his lone season at Duke.

The Pelicans are slated to open regular-season play Oct. 22 against the defending-champion Raptors.
