The inaugural gold medal for women's big air snowboarding came down to the final run.

American Jamie Anderson was knocked from the top of the podium as Austria's Anna Gasser nailed a cab-1080 double-cork to overtake Anderson for the gold medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Gasser was the top qualifier and was able to land cleanly following her massive trick that garnered her a score of 96.

Anderson's silver was the 17th medal for Team USA in these Winter Games. Australia's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott took the bronze.

Anderson previously won gold in the snowboarding slopestyle at both the 2014 Sochi Games and the 2018 Games. The 27-year-old South Lake Tahoe native had fallen during practice runs, but was nearly flawless during her first two official runs.

She tried a huge trick on run No. 3, but was unable to land cleanly. Gasser then came though in the clutch to claim the fifth gold medal for Austria.
