Wild's Zach Parise contemplating back surgery, report says

Wild All-Star Zach Parise has yet to make his 2017-18 debut and now the winger is contemplating back surgery that would sideline him for up to two months, according to The Athletic.

The surgery he is reportedly considering may occur as early as Tuesday and would be non-invasive, keeping him off the ice completely for a month. It’s expected after four weeks, Parise would be allowed to skate without shooting pucks or taking contact. If all goes well, he could return to game action after another four weeks.

This injury is nothing new to the Minnesota veteran who was diagnosed with a herniated disk during the 2015-16 season. He missed the entire 2016 playoffs as a result of an injury that caused numbness in one of his legs.

Parise did play the entire 2016-17 season without missing a game, but the issue flared up again this season, preventing him from making his 2017-18 season debut.

Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters that he hopes to provide an update on Parise Tuesday.
