The red flag was waved with just under 60 laps remaining in Sunday's Can-Am 500 at Phoenix Raceway after the SAFER barrier in Turn 3 caught fire twice.
The rare event occurred after Chris Buescher's brake rotors exploded on Lap 253, hurling red-hot pieces of metal into the foam barrier resulting in two small fires.
