The Melbourne Storm will continue to monitor Cameron Smith in the coming week, but the veteran star will not require scans on an injured Achilles tendon.
Smith hobbled out of the Storm's defeat to the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday, with the hooker expected to go for tests 24 hours later to assess the damage.

But a short update posted on Melbourne's Twitter page revealed that they did not feel there was a need for Smith to undergo scans over the weekend.
"Medical staff will monitor Cameron's progress this week," the post read. "At this stage, he won't require scans and he'll be reassessed on Monday."
The news that Smith's injury may not be as bad as first feared comes as a huge boost for the Storm, who lost top spot in the NRL to the Rabbitohs in defeat but will soon have play-off rugby to tackle.
But team-mate Ryan Hoffman was confident Smith's 22-year-old namesake Brandon Smith would be able to step into the breach regardless.
"We're confident [Cameron] is going to be okay but, whatever happens, we will deal with it," Hoffman said.
"You're never going to replace Smithy but every time Brandon Smith has come into the team he has done a really good job. I'm sure he will do the job that is required of him."
