Malaysia celebrated a gold medal in pencak silat at the 2021 SEA Games after Khairi Adib Azhar won in the tanding Class B (50-55kg) final on Monday.

The 20-year-old was trailing 50-59 with four seconds remaining in the match when Indonesia's Khoirudin Mustakim struck him in the neck.

Judges ruled the attack was too dangerous and issued the Indonesian with a 10-point penalty, allowing Adib to take a one-point lead as he held on for the win.

Malaysia also bagged two silver medals on the same day through Siti Rahmah Mohamed Nasir (70-75kg) and Siti Shazwana Ajak (65-70kg).

Overall, the pencak silat squad contributed two gold, two silver and nine bronze to Malaysia's medal tally so far.
