Al-Jufferi Jamari had to settle for bronze in the pencak silat Class F (70-75kg) event after losing in the semi-finals at the 2021 SEA Games on Sunday.

The three-time world champion brushed aside his right shoulder injury suffered in an earlier round to take the lead in points against Singapore's Abdul Raazaq Abdul Rashid.

However, the 30-year-old, who previously competed in Class E (65-70kg) and won a gold medal at the 2017 SEA Games, was given a 10-point penalty for accidentally striking his opponent's face in the final seconds and eventually lost 21-26.

Abdul Raazaq would face Vietnam's Tran Dinh Nam in the final after the latter defeated Filipino silat exponent Alvin Campos in the other semi-final tie.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's pencak silat squad picked up three more bronze in the tanding category through Hazim Amzad, Ahmad Atif Irsyad Ahmad Zahidi and Fauzi Khalid in the Class C (55-60kg), Class D (60-65kg) and Class G (75-80kg) categories respectively.

Malaysia also won one gold and two bronze in the artistic category for pencak silat.
