The three preliminary contests kicking off the proceedings at ONE: IMMORTAL PURSUIT at the Singapore Indoor Stadium served up some intense action, perfectly priming the local crowd for the main card to come.

Everything you could want from top-flight martial arts was showcased — a big knockout, a slick submission, and a hard-earned decision. Here is a quick rundown of the action.

Lepont’s Return Highlighted By First-Round Finish

After two years out of the cage and a dry streak, Arnaud “The Game” Lepont returned to ONE Championship with a point to prove in the final preliminary bout at ONE: IMMORTAL PURSUIT.

He wasted no time in proving himself, grabbing hold of Filipino Richard “Notorious” Corminal in the opening seconds and throwing him to the mat. From there, Lepont’s suffocating side control allowed no movement at all for Corminal, who tried to escape, but was offered no release.

“The Game” diligently worked on opening up an opportunity, trying for an Americana before trapping the left arm of “Notorious” and using it to set up an arm-triangle choke.

Lepont slid over into mount with the head and arm ensnared, and finally across to the opposite side of Corminal’s body to squeeze the fight out of his adversary.

He pushes his record to 12-5, and shows that he is once again a force to be reckoned with.

Muhammad Aiman Finds Success Away From Home With Dominant Unanimous Decision

The always-exciting “Jungle Cat” Muhammad Aiman met China’s “Peter Pan” Yang Fei in a catchweight contest, looking to pick up his first ONE victory away from home.

In a cerebral and disciplined performance, Aiman was consistently busier, using his punching combinations to set up hard low kicks time and time again. He was on his toes and constantly feinting and moving, setting up several opportunities to attack the static lead leg of Yang.

The rounds all followed a similar format, as “Peter Pan” stood flat-footed and absorbed repeated shins to the thigh. He occasionally stepped in for a takedown, just to be shrugged off by the Malaysian. The Chinese warrior had his most success in the third, where a bodylock takedown saw him achieve the mount position, but the tricky Aiman worked his way out of the back door.

Ultimately, it was the work rate and combinations of “Jungle Cat” that earned him the victory.

Miao Li Tao Picks Up Impressive KO In ONE Debut

Opening the event inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium was a bout between China’s Miao Li Tao and Cambodia’s Sim Bunsrun, with both men eager to make an impact on the strawweight division.

The Chinese athlete, in particular, was hoping for a successful debut on the big stage.

After a mixed start, in which he ate some hard shots from the Kun Khmer striking attack of Bunsrun, Miao showed good sense to use those opportunities and secure takedowns. Bunsrun’s ability to create space and scramble back up to his feet was impressive, however, as Miao Li Tao desperately tried to pin him on the mat.

However, it would be Miao, the Fighting Brothers product, who landed the telling strike on the feet. The Cambodian aimed a high kick at Miao, only for the Chinese to expertly evade the shot, and reply with a thunderous right hand that dropped Bunsrun to the mat. He was finished off shortly thereafter with a slew of hammerfists.

Miao pushes on to 10-3, and has announced himself to the division in style.
