Pelicans star Davis denies he's requested Lakers move

Anthony Davis insisted he has not given the New Orleans Pelicans a preferred trade destination amid links with the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to reports, the Lakers are Davis' only long-term choice, and if the NBA All-Star is traded to another team he would regard it as a "one-year stop" before joining LeBron James in Los Angeles in free agency in 2020.
However, Pelicans star Davis denied that was the case as speculation mounts over his future.

"I never gave the Pelicans a destination or anything so I'm not sure where that’s coming from," Davis said on Friday.
Davis, who the Pelicans selected first in the 2012 NBA Draft, offered a succinct explanation for why he wants to be traded.
"I just feel like it is my time," Davis told reporters in his first public comments on the issue. "Gave the city, organisation, fans, everything I felt like I could do. I don't know how long I'm going to play this game. People's careers are short. I felt like it is my time."
The NBA fined Davis $50,000 earlier this week after his agent, Rich Paul, publicly demanded a trade. Since then, he has been tied to several possible destinations, including the Lakers, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
According to reports on Thursday, Lakers president Magic Johnson and New Orleans general manager Dell Demps have tried to work out a trade.
The Lakers have reportedly made several different offers, and Johnson is "waiting to hear back from Demps about which interest him the most," according to speculation.
One of those packages reportedly would include Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac and a number one pick.
Davis, who has not played since January 18 because of an injured finger, said he plans to return to the line-up when he is healthy.
That is in contrast to head coach Alvin Gentry's uncertainly after telling reporters on Thursday he did not know if Davis would play again for New Orleans.
"That's a hard thing to answer," Gentry said. "I don't really know how to answer that. I assume that he will.
"That's something that will obviously have to be discussed about what's best for him and what's best for our team."
