NBA wrap: Spurs, Nets blown out in upset losses

The Spurs didn't need a rest prior to Friday's game. They were at full strength and played all of their stars, but it didn't help them in Orlando.

The Magic cruised to a 114-87 win over the Spurs, who were dominated from start to finish.

"They did a good job of taking us out of what we wanted to do, and they did it for 48 minutes," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich told reporters after the game. "They outplayed us in every facet."

Evan Fournier led the way for Orlando with 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting.

The Nets were also playing well coming into their matchup with the lowly Knicks. Like the Spurs, the Nets were owned by the Knicks, who got their first win of the season with a 107-86 rout. Kristaps Porzingis tallied his third 30-point game of the season, leading the way 30 points on 13-of-24 shooting and nine rebounds.

Studs of the Night

Rockets guard James Harden tallied his first triple-double of the season with 27 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in Houston's 109-93 win over the Hornets.

Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns scored 33 points on 12-of-24 shooting in Minnesota's 119-116 win over the Thunder. He also added 19 rebounds and four blocks while turning it over just once.

Dud of the Night

Manu Ginobli didn't help the Spurs cause in their big loss to the Magic. He finished 1 of 9 from the floor with six points in four minutes. He was 0 for 4 from 3-point range.

Highlight

Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon threw one down in Wilson Chandler's face in Atlanta's 105-100 loss to the Nuggets. Dedmon finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

What's next

Rockets (5-1) at Grizzlies (4-1) 8 p.m. ET — Two of the top three teams in the Western Conference will face off in Memphis Saturday and two of the best point guards in the NBA will match up. Harden is coming off of his first triple-double of the season while Mike Conley is quietly averaging 19.2 points, 4.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
