The proposed big-money duel between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is set to take place in Las Vegas during Thanksgiving weekend.

Rumours have abounded in recent weeks over a potential high-profile clash between the long-term PGA Tour rivals, with a reported winner-takes-all purse of $10million.

While details of the match are yet to be finalised, Mickelson was quoted after his opening round at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday as confirming the time and place of the spectacle.

Thanksgiving this year will be celebrated on November 22, with the exhibition contest seemingly to follow on November 24-25.

Mickelson's apparent confirmation of the date and location came in contrast to a less committal response from Woods on the subject.

When asked about the latest rumours regarding the match, he said: "We haven't signed anything, nothing's confirmed. As soon as it is, then we'll let you guys know."

Mickelson and Woods both opened the tournament at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio with four-under rounds of 66 to hold a share of 14th, four strokes back from leader Ian Poulter.
