Kristaps Porzingis and Enes Kanter have turned the Knicks into a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference this season, but they will be unable to go against the Western Conference Elite on Saturday.

Both Porzingis and Kanter will miss the Knicks' matchup with the Rockets with back injuries, the team announced.

Kanter missed Friday's game against the Hawks with his back injury after playing 32 minutes in the Knicks' win over the Raptors Wednesday, but Porzingis was able to play 38 minutes Friday night in a loss to Atlanta while scoring 28 points and adding four rebounds.

Porzingis will be out with lower back tightness while Kanter is still suffering from back spasms.

The two big men have been integral in the Knicks' resurgence this year as Porzingis is averaging 27.3 points and 7.2 rebounds and Kanter is putting up 13.6 points and 10.2 rebounds.

New York is currently tied for the seventh-best record in the Eastern Conference at 10-8. After starting the season 0-3, the Knicks went 10-5 over their last 15 games.
